UPDATE: V/Line released an official statement via social media announcing its trains will gradually return to regular services from midday on Thursday. It warns delays and cancellations may still continue throughout the day.

V/Line passenger train services were unable to operate on Thursday morning following the nationwide Telstra outage on Wednesday.

V/Line chief executive William Tieppo told 3AW host Heidi Murphy he is confident services will return to regular operations as soon as possible.

“We are pretty confident that at some point we will get trains up and running, I just don’t have an exact time for you right now,” he said.
