Police have put scooter riders on notice after a rider was caught more than three times over the legal blood alcohol limit.

A 32-year old man lost his driver’s licence for more than a year and was fined more than $1000 after being caught in the CBD last week.

“It’s difficult to believe someone could do that,” road policing operations and investigations division superintendent John Fitzpatrick told Jimmy Bartel on 3AW Afternoons.

“We’re trying to make people aware out there that when you utilise a scooter … there’s certain criteria that apply and if you hop on one you’re certainly not exempt from the alcohol limits,” he said.
