‘Very daunting, very scary’: Elderly couple caught up in protests on the West Gate Bridge

An elderly couple on their way home from hospital has been caught up in the protests on the West Gate Bridge.

Cheryl called into the 3AW Drive Program and described the chaos.

“(It’s) very daunting, very scary, I have to admit,” she told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Tom Elliott.

“We’ve just had them coming up past our cars and they’re waving their fists and things like that.

“You don’t know what they’re going to do.

“We’ve got a semi-trailer beside us and the driver got out and had to lock his door, where they opened his door.

“They’ve been climbing on vehicles, hitching rides up the West Gate Bridge.

“It’s not nice out here at all.”
