Deputy Editor of the Economist, Tom Standage, says 2023 will be a “very mixed bag” for the world.

He told Shane McInnes while the war in Ukraine and a COVID surge in China are “worrying sings” there are silver linings.

“For example … weirdly the war in Ukraine has accelerated the shift to clean energy in Europe,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“We never want to rely on gas from Russia ever again, and so we’re lots of European countries using a lot more renewable energy and planning to build a lot more renewable energy.

“So that’s actually the best news for the fight against climate change that we’ve seen, probably ever.”
