VFBV abandons legal action aimed at blocking controversial firefighter deal
Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria has abandoned legal action aimed at blocking the controversial union deal with the government.
The VFBV withdrew its case in Supreme Court on Tuesday morning.
The volunteers made the decision following federal legislation, which protects their rights.
The CFA and the union can now proceed to a vote on the pay and conditions deal, which will then go to the Fair Work Commission to be ratified.
At that point, the new federal legislation will come into play.
More to come.
