VicRoads has no plans to extend a ban on trucks in Freeway right-hand lanes.

The bans have been deemed a success on the Eastern and Princes Freeways, with traffic and safety improvements. 

But Chief Operating Officer Peter Todd told Neil Mitchell not all freeways are alike.

‘On those freeways, the interchanges are spaced at a greater distance,’ Mr Todd said.

‘They’re very close on the Monash, if we had all the trucks in the left-hand lane it would be difficult for people to get on and off.’
