A former resident of one of the Canning Street housing commission flats which were locked down by the then-Andrews government has spoken out following the news of his King’s Birthday award.

Mohamed Yusuf, says he wasn’t prepared for the lockdowns which saw residents unable to leave their respective public housing towers.

“We felt targeted, we were treated different to all the other Victorians,” he told Tom Elliott.
