Victoria becomes first state to legalise euthanasia

Victoria has made history by becoming the first state to legalise voluntary euthanasia.

After a marathon 28-hour debate in the upper house, the Andrews Government’s assisted dying bill has passed, with 22 of 40 MP’s supporting the legislation.

Amendments must now be approved by the lower house, but are not expected to be opposed.
