A public transport spokesperson says the state continues to “fall behind” as much-needed Myki upgrades are delayed by 18 months.

State budget papers published on Tuesday revealed the long-awaited Myki replacement program, which was meant to be implemented at the start of 2026, is now not expected to be complete until 2028.

Spokesperson Daniel Bowen spoke to Shane McInnes about the delay and what it means moving forward.

Mr Bowen said it’s a “real mystery” as to why the implementation faces such a hefty delay, and hopes there won’t be any more of a “blow out”.
