There were 1763 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases detected in Victoria yesterday.

It’s the highest daily number recorded in any Australian state, surpassing the previous NSW record.

Sadly, another four people with the virus have died.

There are now 14,368 active cases of COVID-19 in the state.

There are 517 people in Victorian hospitals with COVID-19. of those, 101 in intensive care and 66 on a ventilator.

The state government has announced a vaccine push in 27 postcodes which are trailing behind in vaccine coverage.

The 27 postcodes all have current first dose coverage rates are under 75 per cent.

Going forward, suburb-level breakdowns on vaccine rates will be provided by the Health Department in a bid to drive up vaccination.

The 27 postcodes with the lowest vaccine uptake:

  • 3023, 3037, 3335 – Deer Park, hillside and Caroline Springs (stretching to Rockbank)
  • 3428, 3063, 3430 – Bulla and other areas in Melbourne’s outer north-west
  • 3047, 3048, 3060, 3061, 3072, 3073, 3074, 3075, 3076, 3081, 3083, 3086 – A large area in Melbourne’s north including Dallas, Coolaroo, Fawkner, Campbellfield, Preston, Reservoir, Thomastown, Lalor, Epping, Heidelberg and the area near La Trobe University.
  • 3175, 3177 and 3976 – Doveton, Dandenong and Hampton Park
  • 3200 – Frankston North
  • 3011 and 3031 – Footscray and Kensington
  • 3182, 3183 and 3184 – St Kilda area

There were 62,189 test results received yesterday and 36,253 vaccine doses administered.
