Victoria is lagging behind when it comes to fast food labelling.

And leading dietitian Karen Inge says there’s no doubt highlighting kilojoule content makes a difference when it comes to consumption

A recent survey found seven out of nine major fast food outlets did not provide enough nutritional information for consumers.

Karen Inge said the more information on offer, the better decisions people made.

‘This study that was done has shown that people will choose lower kilojoule intake foods if you know you’ve got the choice,’ she explained on 3AW Afternoons.

‘The study is showing people will have 15 per cent lower intakes if they know what it is.’
