Victoria Police bracing for disruption at anti-immigration protest
Police admit they’re concerned about the type of people planning to attend a major protest in central Melbourne on Sunday.
Several ‘March for Australia’ demonstrations are planned around the nation on August 31, with groups attending the event largely rallying against mass immigration.
Superintendent Troy Papworth says Victoria Police had fears about how the protest could transpire on the weekend.

“Our intelligence suggests that there are groups and individuals who hold far-right extremist ideologies who are organising this event,” he told 3AW Mornings.
“They are likely to attend and cause disruption…in response to this, there are groups with opposition views who are planning on attending specifically to confront (the far right) group.”
