Victoria’s tourism facilities falling behind; chief warns
Some of Victoria’s premier tourist attractions are crying out for an upgrade, Victoria’s tourism chief says.
The 12 Apostles and Puffing Billy facilities are among those that require more investment.
Faulty toilets, unappetizing food and no decent coffee is ruining the experience.
The tourism industry says there’s the potential for hotels, wineries and restaurants to reap the benefits of higher tourist numbers but millions of dollars needs to be poured into the facilities.
Brad Ostermeyer, Chief Executive of the Victoria Tourism Industry Council, told 3AW Breakfast while they were getting ‘good numbers’ Victoria could be doing better.
‘The visitor experience down there (at the Twelve Apostles) is not a good one at the moment,’ he said.
‘In terms of its a very basic facility.
‘It’s a world class coastal lansdcape.’
