A surge in migrants from India is being driven by our education sector, with students making up a large proportion of Victoria’s migration pattern.

A snapshot of last year’s census finds the typical migrant is now an Indian woman, 43-years-old and speaks English.

Social researcher Mark McCrindle has told Neil Mitchell, we can expect to see that trend continue.

‘We saw this with the Italians and Greeks, that southern European migration to Victoria,’ Mr McCrindle said on 3AW Mornings.

Once you get a strong connection in an area, you those get strong family connections and strong business connections, that does start to drive it.’
