In a deal with the Albanese government to be finalised later this week, Victoria will not be using their share of the $2 billion social housing fund on Commonwealth Games infrastructure.

The Victorian executive director of the Property Council of Australia, Cath Evans says the deal which will see the funds used on existing stock considered uninhabitable is good news.

“I think everybody in the state understands we’ve got a housing crisis, and to have additional funds to assist those who most need it is great news for Victoria,” she told Mark Allen and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft.
