Victorian club poised to replace Gold Coast in China
St Kilda looks set to replace Gold Coast and travel to China next year to face Port Adelaide, says Tom Morris.
The Sportsday newsbreaker said the Saints are finalising the deal that will see them play the Power at Shanghai Jiangwan Stadium.
“Port Adelaide believes St Kilda is locked in and the Victorian Government believe they are locked in,” Morris said on 3AW.
The game has also been backed by Labor MP Phil Dalidakis who has been the driving force behind the proposal.
The past two games played in China saw Port Adelaide dispatch Gold Coast in a pair of lacklustre encounters.
In addition, the AFL was criticised this year for the sparsely populated crowd with only 10,689 in attendance during the Round 9 showcase.
