Victorian Labor MPs ‘banned’ from visiting schools
The Australian Education Union says Victorian state Labor MPs “won’t be welcome” at state schools until a new industrial agreement is finalised.
Meredith Peace, Victorian Branch President of the Australian Education Union, said teachers had been told they can stop working and protest if a politician arrives on campus.
“We can’t, obviously, physically stop them from visiting,” she told Tom Elliott.
“But we’re making it clear that they won’t be welcome.
“Our members are authorised to stop work and make it clear that they don’t want the MPs visiting.”
