Victorian Legal Aid says it is legally obliged to assess an application by rapist and murderer Sean Price, to fund an appeal against one of his convictions.

Price intends to use taxpayer funds to fight the a 2015 rape charge, despite previously admitting guilt.

Legal Aid Managing Director Bevan Warner told 3AW’s Tom Elliott there’s nothing that stops Price from making an application.

‘Legally we can’t choose to get some applications and dismiss them straight away, and throw them in the bin, and only consider those applications from people we might consider favourable.

‘We are going through out proper processes, he will be advised of our decision in due course,’ Warner said on 3AW Drive.
