Victorian man fights off crocodiles after mate drowns in Northern Territory
A Victorian man is dead and another is in hospital after their boat was overturned by a crocodile in the Northern Territory.
The terrifying incident occurred north-east of Darwin at Leaders Creek.
Careflight NT director Ian Badham told 3AW it was an amazing story of survival for a 72-year-old man who’s now in a Darwin hospital.
‘A crocodile charged the boat while he and his mate were trying to bring in crab pots,’ he explained.
‘They were thrown into the water and in that ordeal, his mate drowned.
‘He had to fend off crocodiles using a spanner and throwing spark plugs at them until he was eventually rescued.’
