Victorian man fights off great white shark with garden broom at Port Fairy

A man has fought off a 5.5m great white shark with a garden broom at Port Fairy.

Dan Hoey, who runs Salty Dog Charters spoke with Neil Mitchell. 

‘I was about eight miles off shore, half way between Port fairy and Warrnambool before we found it, or he found us.’ – Dan told 3AW Mornings. 

Dan said he used the broom to push the shark away, as he was worried the shark would hurt itself on the boat motors.
