Victorian mum sues over failed abortion

A Victorian mum who have birth to a child she didn’t want is suing the public health system and her doctor.

But does she have a case?

The woman has taken the system to court for expenses such as feeding, clothing, housing, schooling, as well as medical expenses, over the failed abortion.

Ross and John spoke with Kate Booth, Principal and head of medical negligence at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, about the matter on Monday.

She said the woman could have grounds for compensation by citing ‘wrongful birth’.
