Victorian National Party leader responds to merger calls
The leader of the National Party in Victoria has ruled out pushing for a merger with the Liberal Party.
There are calls for the struggling Liberals to rebrand, with one suggestion an amalgamation of the Coalition into one party with the Nationals name.
But Peter Walsh told Tom Elliott the parties served two different purposes and the National Party remains committed to regional areas.
“If we merged, we’d lose that focus,” he said on 3AW Drive.
