The Victorian Police Association has announced its replacement for Ron Iddles following his retirement. 

Sergeant Wayne Gatt will take over from the outgoing secretary this month.

Sgt Gatt has over 20 years experience in the police force, he sat down with 3AW’s Neil Mitchell to talk about his new role.

He says he is confident he can help reduce Victoria’s crime rate, ‘I think one of the biggest problems we confronted here is that for some time our members just simply haven’t had the rescources.’

‘We’ve seen some really positive government commitments in the last few months.

‘When those boots hit the ground it will really help out members,’ Gatt told 3AW Mornings.
