Victoria Police officers have gone to court to seek compensation for injuries reportedly sustained due to the weight of their uniforms.

The ballistic vest is thought to be the key concern.

It’s been revealed Senior Constable Robert Catalucci is the latest to seek compensation after 10 years with the force.

Police Association secretary Ron Iddles told 3AW breakfast the government was aware of the problem.

‘There’s been an increase I suppose in muscular skeletal injuries since members have been required to wear it eight hours a day,’ he explained.

‘We’ve lobbied the government and hopefully within this budget cycle there will be an announcement in relation to a vest which will reduce the weight.’
