Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announces police boost for terror threat

The Andrews government has announced a $49 million funding boost for Victoria Police as a result of the growing terror threat.

The funding will provide an additional 88 staff members

• 40 sworn officers
• 48 intelligence and forensic analysts

New specialist equipment will also be purchased, but Premier Daniel Andrews wouldn’t detail what the equipment was.

Mr Andrews said incidents like those in Paris meant it’s vital to be vigilant.
