Victorian roads set for $3 billion in funding

Article image for Victorian roads set for $3 billion in funding

Victoria’s in for a $3 billion infrastructure boom.

The federal and state governments have agreed on how the Commonwealth money for the scrapped East West Link project should be spent – and it will go on roads.

Malcolm Turnbull will today announce $1.5 billion dollars of federal money, which will be matched by the Andrews Government.

And while the East West Link is dead for now, the North East Link has been given life by the federal government.

Federal Infrastructure Minister Darren Chester said some of the projects, like the Monash Freeway upgrade, had already got underway.

The North East Link will connect Metropolitan Ring Road with the Eastern Freeway.
