Victorian students will be able to mark ‘undefined’ gender on official forms

Article image for Victorian students will be able to mark ‘undefined’ gender on official forms

Victorian high school students now have the option of marking their gender as ‘undefined’ on official forms.?

VCE and VCAL students as young as 15 will be allowed to choose whether they are male, female or ‘gender X’ when filling out personal details forms.

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority has made the changes to support students who are transgender or not exclusively male or female.

Schools and students have backed the move.

But the Australian Christian Lobby says it will create problems and confusion.

Transgender Victoria wants four options, male, female, ‘other’, and one allowing pupils not to answer.
