Victorians left to die while waiting for an ambulance

Devastating stories are emerging about Victorians dying while waiting for an ambulance.

Carol Grant told the Herald Sun her final words to her husband were “sorry, they’re not coming” while they spent 40 minutes waiting for paramedics to arrive.

David lost his father in similar circumstances last month and told Neil Mitchell the story in the paper had “broken his heart” this morning.

He said he couldn’t get through to Triple Zero after his father suffered a suspected heart attack, so a police sergeant went and knocked on the door of the local ambulance station.

“After the sergeant and ambos turned up, obviously my dad had passed away by then,” he explained.

“I was on scene, I’ve done my first aid and checked him out and there were no vitals.

“We got the local member onto it last month and we still haven’t heard anything back from government.”

David stressed he wasn’t laying the blame on paramedics, rather the inefficiencies of government.

“It’s not their (paramedics) fault – they didn’t get the call,” he said.
