The Victorian government will be offering compensation to members of the Stolen Generation.

More than 1000 people are expected to be eligible for the $100,000 payment.

Ian Hamm was forcibly removed as a child and is now chair of the Stolen Generations Reparations Steering Committee, which worked with government on the matter.

He told Neil Mitchell about the eligibility requirements on Friday.

“Really what we are looking at is a demonstration of a removal of a person in the period of time we are talking about … that that person was away from their family, community, culture and their country and had a life impact on them, in the direction their life went,” he said.
