Chief Commissioner Shane Patton has again defended how the red shirts scandal was investigated by Victoria Police, responding to whistleblower claims there was a deliberate cover-up to help Daniel Andrews win the 2018 election.

In an explosive statement addressed to IBAC, the whistleblower claimed senior police interfered with and obstructed their work in a damning 29-page document.

Victoria’s top cop told Neil Mitchell he had not read the document and was not aware of its existence until it was made public in the press.

“I’m not aware of any interference, whatsoever, and was very satisfied with the way the investigation was conducted,” Chief Commissioner Patton said.
