Victoria cops ‘massive kick in the guts’ as Commonwealth Games lifeline emerges
The compensation fee paid by the Victorian government following the cancellation of the 2026 Commonwealth Games could be used to lure the event to Malaysia, angering deputy state opposition leader David Southwick.
It emerged on Tuesday that the besieged event could be given a lifeline, with a $193m AUD offer to assist with the hosting of the Games on the table.
“It is a massive kick in the guts to Victoria,” Mr Southwick told 3AW Drive.
