A video posted on Facebook shows a brutal attack on two Australian men outside a club by a number of security guards.

Thai police say they are searching for the men and they plan to summon five security guards for questioning over the attack which shows them kicking and punching the tourists.

Footage of the incident was posted on Facebook by an employee of a nearby bar and has attracted more than 75,000 views.

The Age’s South-East Asia correspondent Lindsay Murdoch said the attack happened in Patong, a tourist hot spot notorious for late-night assaults and petty crime.

‘We know initially the police knew nothing about it,’ he said.

‘It was posted on Facebook by somebody who was there who worked for a nearby bar (and it) went viral because it’s quite a shocking video, the brutality is shocking.’
