Video: Tradie pins down would-be thief who took off in his van

A tradie has made a dramatic citizen’s arrest after noticing man drive off in his work van while he was inside a store on the Mornington Peninsula.

Shaun, an electrician, was inside a shop when he noticed a thief jump into his work van and drive out of the car park.

He chased after the van, managing to pull the driver’s side door open, which caused the would-be thief to tumble out onto the nature strip.

Other workers came running out of the store and helped Shaun restrain the man

“I think I was more worried about telling the boss that the van’s been stolen,” Shaun told Channel 7.

A 33-year-old man has been charged and is due to face court in September.
