A man has been flung through the air after being hit by a car in a bizarre incident on Wednesday afternoon.

The man was walking along Canterbury Road, Kilsyth when a car struck him shortly after 4pm.

The victim appears to flip and lands on the nature strip.

But then, bizarrely, the victim crawls towards the car, gets in the passenger door and the car drives off.

Police believe the driver and victim are known to each other, but are concerned for the welfare of the injured man as he has not sought treatment at any hospitals in the area.

3AW Breakfast will have more detail this morning.

Sergeant Lee Nichols, from Mooroolbark Police Station, told 3AW Breakfast even police are shocked.

“It really is quite amazing footage,” he said.

Police would like to speak to anyone who is aware of the identity of the victim, the driver or recognise the car involved, which is believed to be a white Toyota Corolla or similar with no registration plates.
