VIDEO: Officers injured after stolen tow truck rams police car in Somerton overnight
Police are searching for a stolen tow truck after a police car was rammed in Somerton last night.
Officers intercepted a Mazda tow truck carrying a utility on the Hume Highway just after 11.30pm.
Detective Senior Constable Brad Crompton told Nick McCallum both officers received minor injuries.
“As the two members stepped out of their vehicle the truck reversed deliberately into them,” Det. Snr Constable Crompton said.
“One was able to jump out of the way into a nearby ditch however, the acting sergeant was knocked on to the road by her door and the tow truck wheels stopped only about a metre from her.
“Pretty harrowing for her.”
