Footage has emerged of two war veterans being wrongly refused a taxi back to their hospital, where they are being treated for post-traumatic stress disorder.

The driver refused to take the pair because they had a dog.

However, the dog was marked as an assistance dog which, like guide dogs, are allowed in taxis.

To add insult to the snub, the taxi told the veterans to follow the law.

Video of the refusal, filmed by one of the veterans, has gone viral online.

One of the soldier’s mother’s, Katrina Rudland, broke down in tears as she told Tony Jones how she felt watching the young men being denied.

‘You just want to hug these guys,’ she said on 3AW Mornings.

‘It’s just awful.

‘Something needs to be done.’
