‘Quite shocking’: Tense scenes after rideshare car and taxi collide at Melbourne Airport
Neil Mitchell has been sent footage of a tense incident at Melbourne Airport last month, and the leader of the Victorian Taxi Drivers Union says the environment there is “toxic”.

The footage shows a collision between a taxi and a rideshare car on July 23. The circumstances leading up to the incident are unknown.

Leader of the Victorian Taxi Drivers Union, Darren Parker, says “some time of argument or dispute” broke out in the holding area before an rideshare driver collided with a taxi.
“It’s a very toxic environment at Melbourne Airport,” he told Neil Mitchell.

Greg, a taxi driver of more than 30 years, said behaviour at the airport is “quite shocking” and he’s “concerned someone is going to get injured”.

Police confirm two cars collided at the airport on July 23. It is believed the driver of car lost control and struck a barrier before it collided with another vehicle and caught fire about 2.45am.
The female driver of the car that lost control was found nearby and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
