Major recalls for some solar batteries have been issued amid warnings they could cause serious fires.

Approximately 8,000 potentially faulty LG solar batteries have been installed in home, according to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC).

ACCC deputy chairman Catriona Lowe is urging people to double check the brand of their solar batteries to prevent a serious incident occurring.

“When these batteries go bad, they can cause very serious incidents,” she said on 3AW Mornings.

“The safety warming is urging consumers with LG-manufactured batteries to check their systems.”
