Wayne Carey has been stood down from his media duties after he was caught with a bag containing a powdered substance at Crown Casino in Perth.

The bag reportedly fell from his pocket while he was gambling at the casino.

He was immediately escorted from the venue and banned for two years.

Carey has claimed the bag contained crushed up anti-inflammatory drugs he used for pain management, and nothing illegal.

The football great was in Perth as part of Channel 7’s commentary team for the elimination final between Fremantle and Western Bulldogs.
