‘We’re broke!’: John Pesutto blasts Andrews government for Commonwealth Games ‘lies’

Victorian Opposition Leader John Pesutto has declared the state “broke” in a savage blast over the cancellation of the Commonwealth Games.

The Age reports Commonwealth Games bureaucrats and Victorian Treasury officials knew in April that the estimated cost of running the Commonwealth Games had doubled.

“It’s clear now that the government lied,” Mr Pesutto told Neil Mitchell.

“We’ve entered a new realm here — this is next level humiliation for the state. We’re broke!”
