A new report shows close to two-in-five emergency doctors are planning to leave the profession in the next 10 years.

Dr Peter Allely from the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine told 3AW Breakfast hosts Ross and Russel EDs were being overwhelmed by people who should be treated elsewhere in the system.

“It’s really this cohort of people … that’s causing this significant problem,” Dr Allely said.
