West Gate freeway fire prompts Friday afternoon traffic chaos

A water tank is on fire on the West Gate Freeway.

All outbound lanes were closed on Friday afternoon as peak hour approach.

Motorists heading towards the freeway from the south-east are being urged to make alternative arrangements.

“It is going to have a big impact on traffic,” the Department of Transport’s Andrew Crook told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.
