Western Bulldogs star remains ‘really engaged’ despite pre-season ACL setback

Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli says teammate Bailey Smith remains “really engaged” with the playing group despite suffering a pre-season ACL injury.

The gun Bulldog won’t feature at all during the 2024 season as a result of the serious knee injury, but Bontempelli says he’s been impressed with his teammate’s mentality following the setback.

“I’ll just continue to check in with (Bailey Smith) as the rehab continues,” he told Sam McClure on Wide World of Sports.

“He’s really engaged in what he can do in an off-field sense, his ability to deal with the setback has been really impressive.”
