Western suburbs estate calls on private security to help reduce crime rates

An estate in Melbourne’s west has called on private security to help deal with crime, resulting in an almost 20 per cent improvement in crime rates.

Residents of Jubilee Estate in Wyndham Vale recently hired private security group YPG Risk to help with problems in the area.

YPG Risk owner Grant Burton said he company was working with police on the job to help deal with complaints from residents.

“The police attend where we need them to and they’re always there,” he told Tom Elliott on 3AW Mornings.

“(Our presence has) 1oo per cent has (reduced crime). The stats released by police yesterday stated there has been a 19 per cent crime reduction in the greater Wyndham Vale postcode.”
