What a trial has revealed about opioid pain medicine

A trial led by the University of Sydney has found no difference between opioid pain medicine and placebos for pain relief.

Co-investigator of the trial,  Professor Andrew McLachlan, says they were also looking to see if the opioid medicine caused harmed.

“Every medicine carries some risk of unwanted or harmful effects so we have to figure out do they help or do they harm,” he told 3AW Breakfast.
