What changes to the solar panel tariffs means for households
Solar tariffs have been lowered in Victoria after the Essential Services Commission lowered floor prices raising concerns solar panels are no longer viable.
Energy specialist at St Vincent de Paul, Gavin Dufty, says the off-peak period has changed from the middle of the night to the middle of the day, which people who are home can take advantage of.
“There’s a whole lot of age pensioners, single mums, disabled people, who are home during the day that … don’t have panels – if we can encourage them to use as much as they can between 10-4,” he said.
