The CEO of Guide Dogs Victoria is in hot water after she appeared on campaign flyers endorsing Josh Frydenberg, pictured below.

It’s sparked fierce backlash, with some social media users claiming they’ll no longer donate to the charity because of Karen Hayes’ move.

But has she broken any laws?

The commissioner of the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission said he “simply couldn’t comment” on a specific example, but told 3AW Drive the commission “saw everything” and would pursue action when it was warranted.

Dr Gary Johns went on to explain what was and wasn’t allowed when it came to political advocacy from charity organisations.
