More than 1000 public service jobs are set to be slashed, including 332 executive roles and other senior positions, as part of a major review into Victoria’s “bloated” public service.

3AW Drive host Jacqui Felgate weighed in on the review, and highlighted one particular concern she has.

And she thinks the City of Melbourne won’t be too happy about it.

“It seems like quite a big mess, and I still haven’t wrapped my head around it,” Felgate said.

Community and Public Sector Union Victorian branch assistant secretary, Mitch Vandewerdt-Holman, then went back-and-forth with the 3AW Drive host about the public service.

“I would argue very strongly that the public service is under resourced to do what Victorians expect of it,” Mr Vandewerdt-Holman said.

“I think that’s a little bit tricky,” Felgate said.
