What Jon Anderson hopes for from the Melbourne Stars and Renegades merger

Big Bash cricket teams, the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades, are no more. Cricket Victoria has announced it will create a single Victorian team, with the other licence to be sold to a private investor.

3AW Breakfast sports reporter Jon Anderson told Ross and Russel he hopes the side prioritises a local player base.

“I hope whatever happens is the new side … has mainly Victorian players in it, with two big imports who can play the entire season,” he said.
