An enormous bang startled residents in Melbourne’s north-east last night.

The explosion was heard in the Doreen area just before 9pm.

Astronomer at the Australian National University, Dr Brad Tucker, said “a lot of people saw a flash associated with this boom” which gives a hint about the source of the boom.
